Tractive GPS DOG 6 review
Published 20 June 2026
The all-rounder to beat. Fastest live updates, multi-network coverage that holds up in weak-signal areas, and full health monitoring. The subscription is mandatory and the device is useless without it, which is the main thing to weigh.
Best for: Owners who want the best live tracking and will accept a monthly fee

Common questions
Does the Tractive need a subscription?
Yes, and it is mandatory. Without an active plan the device stops live tracking, geofencing and history entirely. Plans run roughly 4.99 to 8.99 a month depending on how far ahead you pay. No data is lost during a lapse, and it resumes when you resubscribe.
Can I use the dog version on my cat?
No. The 35g dog version is too heavy for most cats and lacks a safety breakaway collar. Tractive makes a separate, lighter cat version with a breakaway collar, which is the one to buy for a cat.
How accurate is it?
In testing, around 3-5 metres under open sky, 5-10 metres under tree canopy and 3-8 metres in urban areas. Its multi-network SIM helps it hold a signal in weak-coverage areas better than single-network rivals.
